Shaune Songz

The Pisces

The Journey

Born Shaune Forrest, to parents Shaune St. Patrick Forrest and Christine Grace Lynch, of Cromwell-Land St. Mary, Shaune Songz is a writer/musical artiste/digital beat composer/director/photographer. A strong Piscean male, he was born on March 14, 1989, at the Annotto Bay Hospital in St. Mary, Jamaica.
Shaune spent most of his life in the small community of Cromwell Land and at the age of nine (9) a poem written by a girlfriend inspired him to sing. This he actually did and like it too, but he never took music seriously. It was not until his brother, Stephen Forrest, formed the music band, FutureYouths, which he was a part of that he realized that he not only had interest in but was talented enough to forge a path in the music world.
Back then, his stage name was Ajohn. The group was not only about stage performance though as the brothers learned to compose their own beats and self-recorded, when necessary, but it wasn’t until the latter part of 2005 that Shaune really began to hone his skills, and by 2008, he left the group and joined the ‘West Bank Crew’ from Buff Bay, Portland, alongside Governor RXT who assisted his musical development.

Need A Change

Fast forward to 2014, he failed to impress the judges on The Digicel Rising Star audition and so decided that he must develop his skills even more, therefore, he took some time away from the musical scene to do so.
Later that same year, he resurfaced as Shaune Songz with his new single entitled ‘Honestly’, a gospel inspired track which gave him the will power and determination that resulted in his growth and future success.
The year 2015 sparked a new development for Shaune, seeing him making new connections and collaborations with various song writers and artistes such as DJ Brush-one, Blunt Queen, Indie artistes among others, which led to him writing and performing songs like ‘Wave the Hand’, All Nite, a favorite collaboration with Blunt Queen, and PartyMode, in 2017.

Shaune’s technical and musical skills had developed really well, and soon he produced a self-made promo video shoot using only his iPhone 5C and a few spliced clips from Jaden Smith’s song ‘Find You Somewhere’. Shaune Songz had begun to forge his own path creating a definitive future in entertainment. From here, ‘The sky’s the limit’ as he continues to etch his mark in music technology and performance.
